Soul Letter : Summer Rhythms
How I work, rest, create, and dream through the season as a neurodivine, self-employed mother
Dear lovely one,
Each season invites a new rhythm. As a neurodivine, self-employed mama of four, I’ve learned that I can’t hold the same structure all year long.
And I don’t want to.
I love to live seasonally, in heart, in home, in business, in parenting, in creativity.
And so, as we begin to move towards the school Summer holidays, I pause.
I listen.
And I ask: What do I need to thrive in this season?
Summer, for me, brings a unique dance:
Longer light, looser structure
Four teenagers home (but also off seeing friends)
A deep pull toward creativity and nature
And the reality of needing spaciousness in my work to hold it all gently.
So here’s how I’m preparing:
Batching, Softly
I’m doing as much gentle batch-working as I can now, so that when the six-week school holiday arrives, I have more space to play, rest, and be.
This includes my Substack writing, course content, and creative seeds for Autumn.
Book Dreams
I’m creating space this Summer to write.
Not in a pressured way, but with intention.
There’s a book forming, soft outlines and golden threads, and I want to let it breathe and become.
I’ve marked writing days in my calendar like little altars of time.
Thinking Ahead with Love
I’ve started dreaming about 2026.
Not in a productivity way but in a visioning way.
What do I want to build?
Where do I want my work and family life to be flowing?
What do I need this year to carry me there with love, not burnout?
Making Room for the Garden and Creativity
I know that Summer asks me to be outdoors.
Barefoot. With my camera. Hands in the soil.
So I’m intentionally leaving space, no filling it in.
Creativity lives there.
Family in a Shifting Season
Teenagers live in flux.
One moment they need you deeply, the next they’re out with friends.
So we’re planning a fluid summer.
Days at home. Evening walks. Film nights. Time for each of us to just be.
I’m not over-scheduling.
I’m creating a container and trusting the love that lives in our home to shape the moments that matter.
This is how I prepare.
This is how I listen to the season, the family, the work, the dream.
And most importantly, myself.

And as always, I invite you to pause here with me.
To ask:
What do I need this Summer to feel supported, expressed, and free?

I know how Summer can feel for sensitive hearts.
The light stretches long, the noise turns up, and the rhythm of life can feel like too much or not enough.
This is why I’ve created A HeartWild Gentle Summer, a six-week seasonal companion designed as a soft place to land.
Each week, I’ll send you a gentle voice note, a grounding meditation, and a creative invitation to guide you back to yourself.
It’s not about productivity.
It’s about presence.
It’s about remembering that you are allowed to feel good now, not just when everything is done.
A HeartWild Gentle Summer will be shared with you on Thursdays from July 24th.
Paid Subscribers will receive a beautiful Gentle Summer Journal to print out alongside what is shared each week.
