My Motivation Lists
When your husband lives away in sunny Portugal for half the time having lots of adventures, making new friends and exploring a very different way of doing life, it can be easy to feel frustrated.
I can’t deny that the past few months have been really tough for me. There is a lot I want to share about that soon but for now I want to share one of the ways I am making sure that I do not wallow in self-pity or tangle myself up in resentment and anger when Stef is living the other part of his life in Portugal while I look after our children, dogs and home here in Somerset. When he’s on the beach after work or sometimes on the beach to do his work I can very easily begin to get off track with what I want to be doing. I might not be on the beach but I’m in a town I really love, with children I adore and in our beautiful home.
I have started creating a motivation list each time he goes away. What do I want to do while he is away and how do I want to feel?
This month we have 19 days apart but I spent the first 5 juggling house renovations and a Maths paper for my Psychology Degree (by the way in the madness of all that is going on…I got 100% for this…oh YES!!) and then Stef was back….so now I’m into the second part and I’m working my way though this list.
1. Run 55km (I’ve done 12km this week already, so although this is a stretch goal, I’m confident I can do it!)
2. Write my next uni assignment
3. Learn to make kimchi (I did this last night at a beautiful workshop by Somerset Kimchi and Kraut - thank you Alex!) This is one of my 50 before 50 creative projects, which you can follow here.
4. Get back into starting my day at 5.30am
5. Launch a new project
6. Read a book and Listen to another book
7. Play board games and cards with my children
8. Go ecstatic dancing…twice
9. Clear out my wardrobe
10. Bake a chocolate cake and a tray of flapjacks (I haven’t baked for so, so long. Can’t wait to get baking again)
And my March affirmations :
I feel happy and joyful when I create beautiful spaces for myself.
I trust we are just as connected and in love when we are apart as when we are together.
I hope this inspires you to create your own motivation list whatever your circumstances. Embrace the creative energy of Spring and make stuff happen!
Love this! You are such an inspiration 🌸
